America, It’s Time To Love!

America – to include whites and blacks, rich and poor, Jews, Gentiles, Muslims, Buddhists and Atheists, Republicans and Democrats, our Creator God has a direct message for you: It’s time to stop hating, fighting and demeaning one another. It’s time to love!

“How wonderful it is, how pleasant, when brothers live together in harmony!” (Proverbs 133:1)

As an African-American, Christian, single Mother who did not hesitate to exercise my right to vote (that ironically was achieved during my birth year through the Civil Rights Voting Act) in the mid-term elections with my 11-year-old son beside me, I am appalled and pained by the barbaric way we treat one another during election season. The electoral season of any nation that has the privilege to have one should be a season approached and replete with Godly love, human dignity and familial unity. Instead, it has become the extreme opposite for our country—the land of the free, the home of the brave—as a result of extremist ideologies and differing solutions.  In God’s sight, there is no left or right as we witness through the life of Jesus Christ who ate with and served the righteous and sinner, as well as the rich and poor alike. In fact, God hates sin whether it’s dressed up as self-righteousness (as the Republican right can sometimes appear) or a total lack thereof (as the Democratic left can sometimes appear). He, our heavenly Father, loves us as sinners saved by grace in spite of our shortcomings. Shouldn’t we as His created ones made in His image and likeness at least do the same?

“Rulers lead with my help, and nobles make righteous judgments.” (Proverbs 8:16)

From the White House, to the Senate, House of Representatives, local Government and community, all of us as leaders must seek out the wisdom of God in order to make good decisions for our nation. We may mean well or think we know what is best as individual citizens, but if we prayerfully submit our thoughts to the One Who already knows them, we just may find that we’re completely clueless after all. Every President we’ve elected, including our current President Barak Obama, has surrounded himself with sound spiritual leadership to gain wise spiritual counsel realizing that without the help of our Almighty God, they’d fail to make America a home of love, power and prosperity.

“Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34) “Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.” (Proverbs 21:5)

I love, honor and respect each and every President, Republican or Democrat,  past and current, who laid down his life along with his family, answered the call and accepted the challenge to lead our nation towards greatness in his own way. Their willingness to do so in and of itself proves that they have a heart of love for our nation. Join me in praying for, as opposed to complaining about, our President and other elected officials that God will turn their hearts towards wise decision-making for the best interest of our country. As importantly, let us treat each other with love, kindness, respect and grace in all that we do even if we don’t agree on how to do it.

May God bless America. But my fellow Americans, may we in turn also bless God. America, there is a time and season for all things… It’s time to love!
